NIT Warangal Metallurgical Department The Department of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering (formerly the Department of Metallurgical Engineering) was founded in 1965 with an intake of 30 students. The graduate program in industrial metallurgy was established in 1983 with an intake of 10 students. Since 1983, the department has also offered a doctoral program. The department has also introduced another M. Tech. program Materials Technology from the academic year 2011-2012.
