The Department of Chemical Engineering offers B. Tech., M. Tech., and Ph. D programs. Students are admitted to these programs based on national-level competitive examinations. Foreign students are also admitted to these programs. The department has a well-qualified faculty dedicated to teaching and research in basic and advanced areas. The department houses various laboratories that meet the needs of the curriculum. The faculty is actively engaged in industrial consultancy and sponsored research projects. This department has entered into MoU with some of the leading industries. Graduates are absorbed into reputed firms through campus placements. The goal of the department is to instill lifelong learning skills in students. Graduates of the department hold high positions in various organizations.
The department was established in 1964 and since then has come a long way in educating budding chemical engineers and scientists. The department celebrated its golden jubilee in 2014-15 and several events were held on the occasion such as the International Conference on New Frontiers of Chemical Energy and Environmental Engineering (INCEEE) on 20-21 March 2015, the National Student Conference “Chem - Flair" on the 13th-14th March 2015 and alumni meeting 30-31 January 2015.
